Hey, I’m Christine Comtois

Studio owner, mom, educator, life-long learner and lover of Harry Potter.

Thrive all started with a dream, an idea in my head, but it wasn’t all rainbows and ballerinas.

In early 2017 I was pregnant with my 3rd child with the other two under 4. I get very sick and depressed when I am pregnant so was spending quite a bit of time lying around watching way too much tv.

Every once an a while, while lying around, a though would pop into my head… “I should start a dance studio”

“HECK NO,” I’d always reply back. “I don’t want to deal with parents. I am not a leader. I can’t do this at this stage in life. Now please let me get back to Gilmore Girls”

But this thought kept coming back again and again. And the more I thought about it, the less my doubts fought back. “I am a parent and I like them. I lead my family and my classroom every week. I can do anything because I am one tough cookie.”

I call it the Holy Spirit, some call it intuition, others call it the universe. Whatever it was, I finally gave in and started taking action.

With the help of Shantal Moody, we focused on two things… Creativity and good customer service.

And slowly things came together. A name, logo, class schedule and students. We had our first summer camp in 2017 with 40 students in Howard Amon Park and Thrive took off.

Thrive has looked different through our past, meeting in the community center, in parks during covid, and in our studio. We’ve had big classes and sometimes big fails.

But two things remain the same since that first year…

Creativity is an integral part of all our classes.

Customer Service is always at the heart of everything we do.

No matter how Thrive looks in the future, that will always be a part of who we are!

Christine

ps. I really love parents now… I’m blaming my hormones for saying that!
